About this GUIDE
This orientation guide aims to prepare new Rod Roy members and parents for their first day of snow school. Scroll through for tips and tricks to ensure that your first day goes off without a hitch. With nearly 60 years of experience under our belts, we know that a well-prepared skier or boarder is safer, warmer, and happier on the slopes. Please don't hesitate to contact our office if you have any additional questions.

THE NIGHT BEFORE THE EXCURSION
Your first day of ski school is tomorrow - make sure you are prepared! Decisions to postpone due to inclement weather are taken at 7pm the evening before so make sure to check for updates. Pack your bag and be sure to get to bed on time so you are well rested for your first day on the slopes.
CHECK TRIP STATUS AND UPDATES
ORGANIZE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT
I lay out my ski clothes and pack my lunch the night before so that I am ready to head out the door in the morning.
- Jane, RR Instructor
THE MORNING OF THE EXCURSION
After a good night's sleep, check for any last-minute updates again in the morning and then head to your bus stop ahead of the departure time.
TIP FOR PARENTS OF YOUNG SKIERS - Your child should wear their ski boots to the bus in the morning. Skiers know that putting on ski boots can be a struggle, and it is even harder while sitting in a moving bus!
BUS POLICIES
Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride up to the mountain. Just keep these things in mind.
LAURENTIDE: GENERAL AND PG MOVIES PERMITTED
RR MAX: PG-13 ALSO PERMITTED
No PEANUTS
BUT WAIT, WHAT IF I'M NOT TAKING THE BUS?
If you have signed up for the U-Drive program, you will make your way to mountain on your own. Check in and pick up your tickets in the lodge between 8h45 and 9h45 (look for the big Rod Roy sign).
If you're late, come straight to class lineup and find the section director.
What happens if I am late? It could take up to an hour to reunite your child with their class.

Free SkIING & RIDING
Older children and teens may have free ski and ride time. Here are just a few things to keep in mind:
ALWAYS SKI or RIDE WITH A PARTNER
Speak to your bus supervisor or program coordinator if you need to find a ski or snowboard partner.
Know Where to Get ASSISTANCE
If you have any problems or need assistance during the day, ask a Customer Service representative or Ski Patrol to page someone from Rod Roy.
KEEP AN EYE ON THE TIME
Make sure you make it back to the bus on time at the end of the day. Some of the larger ski resorts have more than one base area, so give yourself sufficient time to get back.
SAFETY, FUN & LEARNING
That's our motto and safety comes first for a reason. Follow these tips to ensure you get to enjoy all the fun and learning.
WEAR A HELMET
CHOOSE TRAILS THAT CORRESPOND TO YOUR ABILITY
KNOW YOUR LIMITS
NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL
INJURIES RARELY HAPPEN, BUT IN THE EVENT OF AN INJURY...
In the event of an injury on the slopes, the ski resort's Ski Patrol administer first aid and recommend the next course of action. Parents are contacted by the Program Coordinator or the Rod Roy office. If needed, we have a support vehicle on site to transport the injured student to a local clinic or to meet up with their parents. A follow-up medical examination in Montreal is recommended.
